Being Friends With CoWorkers (Week 5)
I feel like it's an advantage to be friends with your co-workers. Obviously you're not always going to like everyone you work with, but having at least a few friends in the workplace would be beneficial. If you are friends with your co-workers, that means you'd have people to ask to cover your shift or it could simply make work a tad more fun. Yeah, you could ask someone you're not particularly friends with to cover a shift for you but they may be a bit more reluctant to do it and a friend may be more nice about it and do it with no complaints/hesitation. Also, if you have friends that are co-workers or make friends with co-workers after a while, it can make your work life a bit more fun. You'll get to have more fun conversations and there won't be much tension amoungst you and a co-worker you don't get along with. Even if you don't get along with a co-worker, it may just be a bit awkward to be at work with someone you never really talk to. To me, friends in the work place if a major bonus.

Janay, I agree with you on your statement that it is a bonus to have friends in the workplace. I think that you made a very good observation regarding needing someone to cover a shift because that does occur and if you have little to no "workplace" friends, then you may not be prepared!
ReplyDeleteI personally think making friends with co workers is a great advantage because it does make work a lot less stressful and can actually make time go by faster. You can have any conversation on any given topic that can last hours and by the time you're done your shift will be over. I like having coworkers as my friend and since my own brother if one of my coworkers i find is as a complete advantage because the other employees talk to me like i've been there for years and treat me like family (since my brother has worked there longer than i have).
ReplyDeleteYes, you would have an advantage at your workplace if you make good friends. That's totally agreeable because I do the same thing in my job. Yes, there are some I don't get along with but there others I made friendships with and that is totally better. Making conversations can make the day go by faster too!
